BC Roots and Country Artist takes
Charity Christmas Concert Nation-Wide
“Canadian Country Christmas makes
Western Canadian debut in Kelowna”
Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, November 9, 2009. BC roots and country artist Sean Hogan comes to the Okanagan once again with his annual “Canadian County Christmas” Concert tour. Along with well known artists such as B.C’s own Sue Medley, Saskatchewan’s Cody Prevost, and Ontario’s Jamie Warren; the group is touring the nation raising funds for local community organizations. The show debuts in western Canada on November 30th at Rultand Centennial Hall.
With a stylistic sound that industry observers have said is dangerously balanced between alt-country authenticity and modern rustic pop appeal, Hogan’s 1996 debut album was loud and clear, earning him the first-ever Canadian Country Music Associations Independent Male Artist of the Year Award, followed in 2003 by the nod for Canadian Country Music Associations Roots Artist of the Year. Hogan has had seventeen music videos on Country Music Television Canada, and has released four albums and numerous singles. He regularly tours throughout Canada; and his album “The Southern Sessions” released in 2007 to critical acclaim.
Hogan is no stranger to Kelowna, having performed in the Okanagan several times over the years, including bringing his charity Christmas Show to Winfield’s Creekside Theatre in 2007 and 2008 where they raised funds for the Kelowna’s Boys and Girls Club.
Supporting the Kelowna Food Bank at this year’s event, Hogan is thrilled to be helping families in need this Christmas season. “We all know how challenging our current economy is. This year it was important to the other artists and myself that we tried to make an impact on people in communities directly affected by hard times” states Hogan. Executive Director for the Kelowna Food Bank – Vonnie Lavers agrees: “We are very excited to be a part of the Canadian Country Christmas Tour with Sean and the other artists. Their show will help bring awareness to our food supply goals this Christmas season.”
Hogan reflects with pride on the tours inception: “In 2004, I wrote a Christmas song entitled It’s Christmas Time and I presented the song and idea to CMT. They decided to produce a video for the song, and that started it all”. Hogan has been touring this event across Canada since then, and has raised over $85,000 in eight provinces for organizations such as the United Way, Kinsmen Clubs and World Vision.
The show is a family event with an entertaining mix of country and roots music and Christmas celebration songs; taking place on Monday, November 30, 2009, from 8:00pm – 10:00pm at the Rutland Centennial Hall. Tickets are available at www.selectyourtickets.com and the Kelowna Community Food Bank at 1265 Ellis Street. Adults are $33.00 and children 13 and under are $13.00.
